i have come to realize that some things in life are easier said than done...sad that it only took 24 years for me to figure out. back in december i committed myself to run in the wasatch back relay or better known as ragnar. ragnar is a 24 hour relay run from logan to park city, you have a team of 12 and everyone runs 3 different legs of the race which are anywhere from 3-8 miles. the ragnar website describes this event as a 188 mile-party with 12 best friends. sounds fun, right? well i've been training since january and my body already hates me. i am running 3-4 times a week and trying to get in a couple days of cardio. for one, i thought that this would help with my weight issue...however i feel as though i've only gained weight. on top of that i feel like when i walk my knees just want to give out. i have been taking hot baths at night to soothe my achy joints - i still feel like a grandma. on the bright side only 4 more months of this.ps- suggestions are welcome on how to cure my achy knees/body.

Keep going! It's all about mind over body.
When I was training for the TOU 1/2 last summer, my knees became my enemies for a while, but by the time the race came, it was like I had brand new knees and they didn't even phase me.
It's all about the glucosamine Michelle. Seriously, go get some awesome customized shoes at Striders in Layton and start taking glucosamine with chondrotin twice a day and I promise you'll be feeling better within 2 weeks. Have I ever steered you wrong?
Massages!! Come to Logan and let Nikki work her magic! Seriously. Last year I was getting ready for my half marathon and my knees kept giving me problems so I went in to see Nikki and it turns out I had a golf ball size knot in my hamstring that was putting all sorts of pressure on my knee!!
I'm doing Ragnar too! Good luck girly, if you're ever in Logan and need a running partner let me know!
Michelle, I know you can do it! It will be totally worth it. I have to tell you that I had a dream where I went into SARC to visit everyone and you were there and I was so happy to finally see you!
OH MY GOSH!! You are going to have a blast with the race. My brother in law does it every year. I was going to do it last year but kinda had a baby brewing so I couldnt. But I am doing the Odgen Marathon next year, you should so do it with me :)
Cold baths! Seriously after a long run soak your knees in a cold bath. Then take a warm bath. The cold water helps reduce swelling. If you have access to a hot tub, use it. Ibuprofen, ibuprofen, ibuprofen. It's the only way I can get through the day after 8 miles.
